| Dear Parishioners, It has been suggested that the Cathedral Parish may wish to become involved in the casseroles for Cosgroves Kitchen program. This facility provides 5000 meals a month to the truly disadvantaged. This is how it works: We provide containers of soup, chili or casseroles. These are distributed before and after a weekend mass. Parishioners may choose a recipe which we will provide (or they may use their own recipe). They prepare and freeze the food in their home. They return the prepared frozen food to mass the following weekend. We store the frozen labeled containers in the grade school freezer. On Monday we transport them to Cosgroves Kitchen. Mrs. Hagerbee (the coordinator) suggested that in the past, it proved to be helpful when the program was discussed as a family project. Many people wish to do something in their parish and find that they are able to accomplish this. Busy families have mentioned their children help with the project and they believe this is good. Some people make a big pot of soup or chili and double the recipe. They freeze a Cosgrove container and have the remaining portion for their supper. Other people make two casseroles, one for home and the one for the Kitchen. We will be collecting five times a year. We will publish the dates in the bulletin. We thank you for feeding the poor. |
